MY PERSONAL GENEALOGY STORY
My genealogy story started much like most, with my own family. As a child I can remember asking my dad what ethnicity we were. I thought his response of Czechoslovakian (it was still one country at the time), was so fascinating. It was different from the usual German, Irish or Italian that was so common in our part of the Midwest.
As an adult my fascination grew and I set out on a journey to discover my family history. After 10 years of Czech language lessons, 3 years of research, and multiple trips to the Czech Republic, I have traced my family history as far back as the 17th century, visited my family's ancestral village, Slatiny, Czech Republic; visited the birth place of my great grandfather, Strachovice, Czech Republic; met distant relatives and added over 3000 people to my family tree, almost all Czech immigrants or Czech natives. My goals are to help do the same for you.
